David's Comments

David

It is the Christmas Season and a time of great celebration. I red this somewhere and wanted to share it. "The greatest man in history had no servants, yet they called him Master. Had no degree, yet they called him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. His name is Jesus."

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!"
Luke 2:4-14 (ESV)

When we accepted Christ as our personal savior, our old self dies and we become a new person in Him. We must pray, which includes talking and listening to God, and read the the Word for direction and guidance.

Today, examine your life and ask yourself, "Am I living in the world, or have I allowed God to change me into a new person that is seeking His will for my life?" Ask God to help you to recognize your weaknesses and to help you to overcome them. God has the power to create a wonderful new you if you will trust and obey.

"This Little Light"

David
by Nancy K. Brown

It was the tiniest of lights, but in the blackness of the radiology darkroom, the faint glow of the little red lamp seemed to shed light on the entire room.

Working as a darkroom technician, I had grown accustomed to functioning as much by touch as by sight. Still, the slight illumination of the little red lamp cast just enough of a glow that I could easily maneuver in the darkness.

During a procedure called an arteriogram, the tiny red light was extinguished, and I was left to function in total blackness. With the absence of the little light, there was no way to see the sheet of X-film I was expected to properly tape and process. Following the procedure, though, when the light was turned back on, the amber glow cast such radiance that it seemed as though I was working in full light. What an amazing difference it made!

To a world filled with darkness, our light should glow just like the beam of that tiny red lamp. Jesus said, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

Though sometimes it appears we're having little effect, in the shadow of mankind's lost state, ours is a burning beacon. If that beacon were to be turned off, the world would really be lost, so let your little light shine.
